U.S. Epigraphy Project (USEP)
http://usepigraphy.brown.edu/django_media/projects_media/usep/css/gfx/header_brickstamp.png
The goal of the U.S. Epigraphy Project (USEP) is to collect and share information about ancient Greek and Latin inscriptions preserved in the United States of America.
The Project currently provides access to a database of some 750 Greek and 1,700 Latin inscriptions in the USA through browsing by collection and publication and by searching various categories of metadata (language, date, origin, type, material) and bibliographic information. A growing digital corpus of the collection registers some 400 EpiDoc editions of Latin texts and provides some 1,000 images of the inscriptions registered by the Project, each of which is identified by a unique USEP number based upon its location.

      • An interactive historical atlas enhanced with narratives, pictures, video clips, and audio files.
      • A site where researchers can collaboratively organize documents and artifacts and write papers or books.
      • A location aware service that delivers through an iPhone App or 2d codes historical information about any place on the earth, while you are there.
      • A CAVE (lab) at Purdue University where we can project life size 3D virtual models of famous places such as Omaha Beach or Ancient Rome.
At Visible Past researchers, students or regular web visitors can use cell phones, desktop computers, laptops, or full immersion 3d virtual reality models to collaborate on any historical project. Visible Past allows them to write and give each other feedback on their paper, to share passions and ideas as they contribute, edit, or enjoy the knowledge created and made available at Visible Past.

Visible Past is a seamless system of information storage and retrieval that turns the idea of information searching on its head: spatially aware, read/write, and multi-user, Visible Past makes information search for you.

      The Visible Past team

Visible Past is a web-based knowledge creation and storage environment produced at Purdue University by Sorin A. Matei and his collaborators, Nick Rauh and Chris Miller that is aware of a user’s spatial location. The site delivers information on the fly, to that location, based on the user needs connected to that location. If you are, for example, in France, in front of the Tour Eiffel, Visible Past can send you information about the Tour Eiffel, to your mobile phone. Further, the cell phone can be used to rate the information or to add your own content to the site.
However, Visible Past is not just a site. It is a software solution that can be installed on any server, by anyone, at no cost. It uses open source, free software, that can be extended and adapted for any specific project.

The Digital Pompeii Project is a joint venture of the Classical Studies Program, the Humanities Program, and the Center for Advanced Spatial Technology at the University of Arkansas. Its goal is the creation of a comprehensive database for visual art and material culture at Pompeii; the database will be linked with 3D models of the city that can be explored in real time. Currently, the project is focused on modeling the houses found in the Hauser in Pompeji series, as well as the Villa Arianna at Castellammare di Stabia, in conjunction with the Restoring Ancient Stabia foundation. The Project relies on a combination of traditional and CAD plans, and laser scanning data (for Villa Arianna). Primary software packages are Cinema 4D, ZBrush, and the game engine Unity.

      http://www.jaha.org.ro/public/journals/2/homeHeaderTitleImage_en_US.png
The Journal of Ancient History and Archaeology is seeking to publish profound, rigorous, well-written, high-quality, high-impact papers to generate discussion, debate, fresh perspective.
The research area is the European continent and the Near East in the Greek-Roman times. The topics are: ancient history, ancient philology, epigraphy, papyrology, numismatics, archaeological material, archaeological reports, digital archaeology, archaeometry, reviews.
We intend to have four issues per year.

We strongly encourage the interdisciplinary or ‘bridge-building’ approach of different academic disciplines
We will use a peer-review system.
The readers will have free access and a pdf version of the published materials will be available for download.
We want to make the Journal of Ancient History and Archaeology a ‘must read’ publication for those who want to learn more about Ancient History.

      http://www.manuscripta.se/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/banner_3.jpg
Welcome to the project homepage of “Greek Manuscripts in Sweden.” The aim of this project is to digitize and catalogue all the Greek manuscripts in Sweden. Around 120 Greek manuscripts are kept in Swedish libraries, but only a few of them have up to now been available in digital form online. The project will remedy this; the fully digitized manuscripts and the new catalogue descriptions will be made accessible via the Uppsala University Library digital platform. Libraries that contribute material to the database include Gothenburg University Library (4 MSS), Linköping Diocesan Library (29 MSS), Lund University Library (5 MSS), Nationalmuseum, Stockholm (1 MS), The Royal Library, Stockholm (5 MSS), The Skokloster Castle Library (3 MSS), and Uppsala University Library (74 MSS). The project is run by two researchers, Dr. Eva Nyström and Dr. Patrik Granholm, in collaboration with photographers and computer specialists at Uppsala University Library. The Central Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation has contributed financial support.

      Volunteers with excellent Latin sought
... The Papyri.info site includes some 52,000 transcribed texts, of which about 2,000 in Latin, very few translated into English or any other modern language. The collaborative editing tool SoSOL (deployed at papyri.info/editor) allows users to add to or improve existing editions of papyrological texts, for example by adding new translations.

If you think you might like to take part in this exercise, take a look for instance at O. Bu Njem, a corpus of 150 ostraka from the Roman military base at Golas in Libya. The Latin texts (often fragmentary) are already transcribed; do you think you could produce an English translation of a few of these texts, which will be credited to you? Would you like a brief introduction to the SoSOL interface to enable you to add the translations yourself (pending approval by the editorial board)? ...

Digitised Diseases is an open access resource featuring human bones which have been digitised using 3D laser scanning, CT and radiography. The resource focuses on a wide range of pathological type specimens from archaeological and historical medical collections, specifically examples of chronic diseases which affect the human skeleton for which many of the physical changes are often not directly observable within clinical practice. Of major interest to many will be high fidelity photo-realistic digital representations of 3D bones that can be viewed, downloaded and manipulated on their computer, tablet or smartphone.

Below are a random selection of models to view via our viewer, the viewer runs using webGL, which means that you have to use either Chrome or Firefox, iOS devices and some most android tablets are not capable of displaying our models online. Once the website goes live, the models will be able to be downloaded and viewed via meshlab on tablets/phones and desktops.

Within the body of publications produced by the Septuaginta-Unternehmen, one can distinguish between editions and studies. The series of editions is entitled Septuaginta. Vetus Testamentum Graecum auctoritate Academiae Scientiarum Gottingensis editum. At present, it comprises 23 volumes—which adds up to about two thirds of the complete Septuagint corpus. In 2004, a supplementary series to the edition was launched with the first volume of D. Fraenkel’s revised edition of A. Rahlfs’ Verzeichnis der griechischen Handschriften des Alten Testaments. Scholarly research on textual criticism and the transmission history of the Septuagint is published in the series Mitteilungen des Septuaginta-Unternehmens (MSU). This collective title is used to gathers studies that are published in the Nachrichten der Akademie der Wissenschaften in Göttingen I. Phil.-hist. Klasse (in the case of shorter studies), and in the Abhandlungen der Akademie der Wissenschaften I. Phil.-hist. Klasse (for monographs).
