                      Abstract
Since the earliest pressures to develop open access (OA) options for journal literature were in the fields of science and medicine, the predominant models reflect those origins and fit those disciplines. These models are less applicable to humanities publishing models, which have been slower to embrace open access. Current literature on OA in the humanities focuses on theoretical frameworks and end-user perceptions. This study complements those perspectives by examining current practices in the humanities, specifically, the OA options offered by journals serving the discipline of the classics.

Addenda and Corrigenda to Harry A. Hoffner Jr. and H. Craig Melchert, Grammar of the Hittite Language (GrHL). Reference Grammar
It was long planned that—following a now common practice—addenda and corrigenda to the reference grammar volume of the GrHL would be posted online on the Eisenbrauns website and the respective home-pages of the authors. These plans were delayed due to a variety of reasons. As is often the case, the appearance of reviews stretched over several years, and following publication of the GrHL Professor Hoffner was very much preoccupied with other research projects. His sudden death in March, 2015, forestalled any planned collaboration on these notes upon my own retirement the following June.
The very long delay in the appearance of these addenda and corrigenda inevitably has had serious consequences. Most obviously, consultation with my late co-author was impossible. We had informally discussed preliminary notes written in January, 2011, in response to the first reviews, but I must stress that Professor Hoffner never had the opportunity to explicitly approve even those, so I am solely responsible for the content of what follows. The passage of eight years has also unsurprisingly greatly increased the number of newly published works on various aspects of Hittite grammar. It was our cherished hope that publication of GrHL would stimulate new research, but the gratifyingly brisk pace of activity during the long delay adds to the challenge of preparing an adequate response. Fortunately, current technology permits rapid further updating, so this surely incomplete initial effort may be modified promptly. I not only welcome but indeed solicit help in filling omissions, including any reviews beyond those listed below that have escaped my attention.

                      Old Testament corpus release
We are happy to announce the release of the automatically annotated Sahidic Old Testament corpus (corpus identifier: sahidic.ot), based on the version of the available texts kindly provided by the CrossWire Bible Society SWORD Project thanks to work by Christian Askeland, Matthias Schulz and Troy Griffitts.

The corpus is available for search in ANNIS, much like the Sahidica New Testament corpus, together with word segmentation, morphological analysis, language of origin for loanwords, part of speech tagging and automatically aligned verse translations (except for parts of Jeremiah). Please expect some errors, due the fully automatic analysis in the corpus. The aligned translation is taken from the World English Bible. Here is an example search for the word ‘soul’:
                      norm=”ⲯⲩⲭⲏ”

You can also read entire chapters in ANNIS or at our repository, which look like this:
                      urn:cts:copticLit:ot.gen.crosswire:09

We hope that this resource will be helpful to Coptic scholars – please let us know if you have any questions or comments!

Additions to e-Clavis: Christian Apocrypha, June 2017
Four new entries have been added to e-Clavis: Christian Apocrypha, the comprehensive bibliography of Christian Apocrypha research assembled and maintained by members of NASSCAL. The new entries are:
Acts of Thomas by Jonathan Henry
Vengeance of the Savior by Stephen C. E. Hopkins
and expansions to the entry for the Pseudo-Clementines by Patricia Duncan

In addition, the Manuscripta apocryphorum pages (each one highlighting a manuscript with one or more apocryphal texts) now number 78, with many of the new entries provided by Brandon Hawk and Janet Spittler.

e-Clavis is always looking for volunteers to contribute entries for unassigned texts. Contact members of the editorial board for more information.

                      Maps for Texts
In this series, the Center compiles maps for ancient texts which can be usefully illustrated in this way.  Naturally, the likelihood is that in most, perhaps all, instances these texts were not originally accompanied by maps.  The series is openly licensed under Creative Commons BY-NC 4.0.  Please direct all questions or comments to awmc@unc.edu.

                      Completed:

                      Ptolemy, Table of Important Cities
Two maps, each in two versions, are offered.  They are produced by Richard Talbert, Gabriel Moss, Alexandra Locking, Peter Raleigh, and the staff of the Center.  Both maps are based on the edition by Lutz Koch, Florian Mittenhuber, and Alfred Stückelberger in Ptolemaios Handbuch der Geographie, vol. 3 (Basel, 2009).  One map (labelled “ancient”) adopts Ptolemy’s projection as drawn by Alfred Stückelberger et al, ibid. vols. 1-2 (2006), using files kindly provided by them, with all sites marked at Ptolemy’s co-ordinates.  The other map (labelled “modern”, ending at longitude 90 degrees E) is based on Antiquity à-la-Carte and shows all the sites which can be located, positioning and naming them as in the Barrington Atlas.  For both maps, one version (labelled “original”) shows only sites originally included in the Table; the other version (labelled “all”) includes sites only added in some later manuscripts.  A searchable directory provides further information on all names in the Table, including the Barrington Atlas reference for each.
All files available for download via Dropbox.

Recogito: Linked Data annotation without the pointy brackets
Recogito is an initative by Pelagios Commons, developed under the leadership of the Austrian Institute of Technology, Lancaster University and The Open University, with funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Recogito is provided as Open Source software, under the terms of the Apache 2 license. It can be downloaded free of charge for self-hosting from our GitHub repository.

Pelagios Commons offers free access to a hosted version of the software at recogito.pelagios.org in the spirit of open data and as an act of collegiality. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions of Use for information.
This tutorial will teach you the essentials of working with Recogito. To complete it, you need a Recogito account, and two sample documents: a plain .txt file with some text, and an image file.
